Terre De L'Elu, VDF ”Bastingage” 6 Bottle Case

"Bastingage" is the flagship white wine for Terre De L'Elu . The grapes come from 3 different parcels (Les Barres, L'Aiglerie, Chaumes), which are vinified separately and blended at the end of the ageing process. "Bastingage" is the name for the rail that goes around a sailboat.

This cuvée has a deep and complex nose reveals buttery aromas. The attack - full and plump - is followed by a very beautiful minerality typical of shale soils. Some nice citrus notes reminiscent of candied lemons. A gastronomic wine that calls for a special dish.

An agronomist by trade, Thomas, spent his formative years working in Champagne, Burgundy, Provence and California before settling down in the schistrich lands of Anjou Noir with his partner Charlotte in 2008. Together they started Terre De l’Élu (formerly known as Clos de l’Elu), which tends to eight different grape varieties, covering 20 hectares of organically farmed land in the heart of the Loire. In 2018, the duo decided to relinquish the word “Clos” which is reserved only for appellation wines. Due to the restrictions imposed under the appellation rules, Charlotte and Thomas say “we prefer to give priority to our freedom and creativity rather than trying to make wines that do not resemble us.”
