Join us for a mixed tasting of English still and Sparkling wines, which we alternate on different days
Book in advance
We aim to create a comfortable and relaxed environment to enlighten and engage guests.
Over the course of 45 minutes to one hour, we begin with a glass of sparkling English wine, explain the systematic approach to tasting wine, followed by a selection of still and sparkling English wines and, for groups larger than six people, finish with a small competition to see who comes up with the best tasting note for the last wine.
The tasting includes meats and cheese that are sourced exclusively from the market.
ABOUT ENGLISH WINE
Whilst there is evidence that the Romans grew grapes and most definitely drank wine in England, this was more likely to have been for aesthetic purposes rather than wine making.
That is not to say that the English have sat idle ever since! Not only do we import approximately £1.7 billion bottles of wine a year but without us, wine as we know it might very different indeed.
Not only will we guide you through the wines but also answer any questions that include;
What makes English sparkling wine Fizzy?
Did the English invent Sparkling Wine?
Does a spoon keep a bottle of sparkling wine fizzy?
How many bubbles are there in a bottle of sparkling wine?
What causes different sized bubbles?
Do bubbles make a difference?
How fast does a sparkling wine cork pop-out?
