I’ve just been to Bolney Estate in Sussex for the first time. Professional and commercial, but friendly and welcoming in an understated English kind of way – perfect!
I have bottles of Cuvée Rosé 2009 and Classic Cuvée 2007 to look forward to at home and will definitely be going again for a tour of the vineyards and tasting; they advised to come back when the leaves are on the vines.
If the wines, tour and the food in the café live up to their promise (the coffee and ambience were certainly good), Bolney will snapping at Sharpham’s heels to become my favourite UK vineyard. What a good start to my New Year resolution to visit as many English vineyards as possible – next on the list are Wickham and Leventhorpe, I can hardly wait…
